Clean Air Tips
Little things you do make a clear difference.
- Consider using alternatives to driving your car. Choose public transit, cycle, carpooling and walking.
- Keep your vehicle in top running condition so it burns less fuel and emits fewer pollutants.
- Avoid rapid acceleration (putting the pedal to the metal) which can produce more than 40 times the emissions of normal driving.
- Avoid driving during peak hours when heavy traffic will mean long waits with your car idling.
- Before buying any used vehicle, have it tested at an AirCare station to be certain it has no emission problems.
- Challenge yourself and your family to reduce your vehicle dependence.
- Avoid idling your vehicle for more than 30 seconds - it's better to shut it off and restart it.
- Shop as close to home as possible.
